The firm of R. Steenson & Son was founded in 1905
by the late Robert Steenson who had been a manager in the undertaking
company Silas E. Weir & Co. in Cookstown for some twenty
five years. The business consisted of cabinet making, furniture
sales, and hearse and carriage hire. The first motor hearse
was purchased after the first World War, a Crossley Motor Tender,
as used by the Royal Irish Constabulary.

Robin took full control in 1965, when his father retired.

business in 1924.

British Institute of Embalmers (B.I.E.) in 1981 and gained
